ROADMAP

Last reviewed: August 2026

FormPDF PRO is under active development. This page outlines the direction of upcoming releases so you know what's coming and can plan around it.

New to FormPDF PRO? Start with Getting Started.

This roadmap reflects current plans and priorities, not a commitment or guarantee. Timelines, scope, and order may change based on real-world usage and feedback. Releases beyond the next one are shaped by customer feedback as it arrives, and items listed under Vision are directional and may change significantly before they ship.

Available Now — v1.0.0

FormPDF PRO is live today with a complete workflow for turning Express form submissions into delivered PDFs:

  • Template design with a no-code Basic builder, an internal HTML editor, or an external file source
  • A token system for mapping form data, submission metadata, and system values into a template
  • Rule-based automation connecting Express forms to templates, with conditional activation
  • Delivery to File Manager and/or email, with secure time-limited download links
  • A submissions overview and detailed execution logs for every generation attempt
  • Global defaults for paper size, orientation, and debug mode

Next — v1.1

Focus: making the current feature set more resilient and predictable.

  • Clearer, safer handling when a template or rule referenced elsewhere is deleted or changed
  • Stronger validation for external file templates, including a status indicator if a linked file goes missing
  • Continued hardening across the PDF generation pipeline

Then — v1.2

Focus: getting started faster, and understanding what happened.

  • A ready-to-use starter template and rule available at install, so you can see a real generated PDF before configuring anything of your own
  • Plain-language explanations for why a rule ran, was skipped, or failed
  • A visual, step-by-step execution timeline for each generation attempt
  • Visibility into where each template is used, with a warning before editing one that's actively in use
  • Ability to pause a rule without deleting it
  • Page number tokens for multi-page documents

Later — v1.3

Focus: scaling to real-world volume and data lifecycle.

  • Configurable data retention and erasure policies — automatically remove generated PDFs and execution logs when the source submission is deleted
  • Expanded settings, including retention and email defaults
  • A new template source that lets you pick a file directly from the File Manager, instead of specifying a file path

Vision — v2.0

These are directional, not committed.

Verified Documents. Every certificate, ticket, or confirmation FormPDF PRO generates could include a scannable code that links back to a verification page on your own site, showing when the document was issued and whether it is still valid — including the ability to mark a document as revoked. Verification would run entirely on your own site, with no third-party service involved.

Alongside that:

  • Background processing for high-volume sites, plus the ability to generate PDFs for submissions received before a rule existed
  • Richer conditional rules, including AND/OR logic and date comparisons
  • A rich text editor option for building templates without writing HTML
  • Export and import for templates and rules, so a setup can move between sites or be shared with others
  • Template version history, with the ability to restore a previous version

Also under consideration: multi-language template support.
